People pray in thousands of ways: with words and without them, alone and together, in temples and in cars. There is no wrong way. Prayer is simply turning toward the Source of all life and opening your heart.
At the Spiritual Awareness Center, we often use affirmative prayer. Instead of begging for something we lack, we affirm that the good we seek is already present in Spirit, and we give thanks for it.
Affirmative prayer in five steps
Recognize
Acknowledge the one Source of all life. "There is one Life, one Love, one Power, present everywhere."
Unify
Know that you are part of that Source. "That Life is my life. That Love lives in me now."
Affirm
State the good you seek as already true in Spirit. "Peace fills my heart and my home."
Give thanks
Feel gratitude as if it were already done. "I am so thankful."
Release
Let it go with trust. "I release this word into Spirit. And so it is."
Light a candle
Take a moment for someone you love, for yourself, or for the world. Light the candle and sit with it for a few breaths.
Send us a prayer or intention
Our prayer circle holds every request in prayer for seven days. Share as much or as little as you like. Only our ministers and prayer team will see it.
If you are in crisis
Prayer is not a substitute for urgent help. In the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, or call 911 in an emergency. Elsewhere, please contact your local emergency number.
